INTRODUCTION
| Xishan
Town of Wuxian City is the largest island located in the fresh water
lake in china.Taihu Bridge,the longest bridge over the inland lake
in China,has linked the town with Suzhou State-level Lake Taihu Tourist
& Holiday Resort just like a beautiful rainbow.Now,Xishan Town has
been approved to be a State-level modern agriculture demonstration
park,a State forest park and one of the experimental towns for the
towns' comprehensive reform in China,which makes the "Bright Pearl
in Lake Taihu" more attractive. Standing high on the top of any hill,you can see the small islands scattering in the lake,the rural households in the villages as vell as many waters and hills,which presents in front of you a very popetic picture.Nature and history have geenerated a plenty of mystical legends for Xishan.the Bingchang Village where Wu State had battled against Yue State,the xiaoxia Bay where Xishi had spent her summer holidays and the beautiful scenery at Shigong Hill,Linwu Cave,Baoshan Temple and Luohan Temple have all made the town a famous scenic spot.The hills at Xishan are covered by flowers and fruits all the year around.This is what is called "Fruits in every season,flowers in every month 18 ripe seasous in one year,and fishes and shrimps every day".The green tea "Biluochun",the red bayberry,the ginkgo,the chestnut,the loquat,the pomegranate,the ice fish,the white fish and the white shrimps produced in Xishan are already pomegranate,the ice fish,the white fish and the white shrimps produced in Xishan are already very famous across the globe.Besides,the town is abounded with mineral,tourism and flower & fruit resources,thich have become the three advantages for its economic development. The 21st century is coming and Xishan is gathering momentum for its economic development.Its overall development plan centered on tourism is gradually becoming reality.A lot of modern infrastructure facilities have been completed,such as those for telecommunications,power and water supplies,sewage drainage and so on.The favorable natural conditions and the nice investment environment are luring more businesses both from home and abroad to invest at Xishan. Party and State leaders,Jiang Zemin,Li Peng,Zhu Rongji,Hu Jintao and Wei Jianxing ,as well as Singapore Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yaw,have all paid an inspection visit to Xishan and shown their great concern for its development.The inscription of President Jiang Zemin"To develop and protect Lake Taihu for the economic growth of Xuxian and the happiness of future generations",has pointed out the development orientation of xishan.On January 14,1996,Li Peng said when paying an inspection visit to Xishan."The scenery in Xishan is very attractive.You must develop technology-intensive projects and those on tourism and tertiary industry are the most suitable for you."It is certain that Xishan will become a modern town in the future,which will integrate business,science and technology as well as ecological tourism in a whole combination and where the primary,secondary and tertiary industries will keep a sustained and rapid growth. |
