| After
the Taihu Bridge opened to the traffic,Xishan's economy has been developing
rapidly.GNP is growing by more than 20% every year and the primary,secondary
and tertiary industries are developing in a garmonic way.Its industrial
economy has formed four pillar sectors:building material,foodstuff,light
industry and construction. The systems for production,processing and service of agricultural and sideline products anr complete at Xishan with fields covering 14 thousand mu and orchards 31 thousand mu.The Xishan Plum Flower Festival,which takes place every year,attracts numerous friends from across the globe.The real estate and tertiary industrial sectors are also growing rapidly.The provincial training center ofr posts and telecommunications,the training center under the System Reform Commission and the training center under the Jiangsu Branch of the Bank of China gave been successively established at Xishan.In 1997,the added-value of tertiary industry centered on tourism amounted up to 150 million RMB.In 1998,the State-level Xishan Forest Park will provide various services in a connected sequence ofr all tourists both from home and abroad. The export-oriented economy is developing steadily. The contracted foreign investment has reached 80 million USD,invluding six foreign-funded enterprises are now under negotiation. |
